How can we help?
Search the help topics below, watch a walkthrough, or message us — CorePaw is built by one person, so the reply comes from someone who can actually change the app. Most messages answered within one working day.
Using and setting up CorePaw
The questions people actually ask once the app is installed. For what CorePaw is, what it costs and how it handles your data, see the general FAQ.
Setting up
How do I add my first pet?
Open CorePaw, tap Add pet on the Your pets screen, and fill in as much or as little as you like — name and species are enough to start. Breed, date of birth, colour, microchip, insurance and vet details can be added later from the pet's Edit screen, and they all flow into the digital passport card.
Do I need an account to use CorePaw?
No. The app works fully offline on one device without signing in. You only need an account for the things that involve other people or other devices: family sharing, sync, cloud backup and cloud photos and documents.
How do I hide sections I do not use?
Open the pet, then Customise sections. Turn off anything that does not apply — Walks for a housebound cat, Microchip for an unchipped rescue — and turn it back on whenever you like. The choice is per pet and syncs across the household.
Why does my cat's app say "Activity" instead of "Walks"?
CorePaw adapts its wording to the species. It is the same tracker throughout — dogs go for walks, cats just have activity. A cat's toilet tracker reads "Litter" for the same reason, and the passport shows a cat's indoor/outdoor status.
How do I turn reminders on?
CorePaw asks for notification permission the first time there is actually something to remind you about — a health record with a next-due date, or a medication course. If you said no earlier, turn notifications back on for CorePaw in your phone's Settings, then reopen the app: reminders are rebuilt from your records on launch.
Daily use
How do I log a feed, a toilet trip or a note?
The pet screen has one-tap tiles for the day's routine: feed, water, med, toilet and note. Each entry records who logged it and when, and the activity log groups everything by day. Choose which tiles appear under "What to track".
How do I record a walk I forgot to start?
Add it after the fact. On the walks list choose to add a manual walk and enter the distance and duration — there is no route map, but it counts towards the pet's history and totals like any other walk.
Can one walk cover more than one pet?
Yes. Tap Start walk and pick who is coming; CorePaw records the walk against each pet you selected.
My walk stopped tracking when the screen locked.
CorePaw tracks in the background, but the phone has to allow it. Give CorePaw location access set to "Always" (iOS) or "Allow all the time" (Android), and exclude it from battery optimisation on Android. Aggressive battery savers are the usual cause.
How do I share a walk?
Open any finished walk and choose to share it: with household members, by email to someone outside the household, or as a branded image with the route map to any app. Sharing walks is free for everyone.
Health & medications
How do I scan a vaccination card?
On the health panel choose the photo import, photograph the card, and CorePaw extracts the records for you to check before anything saves. It never imports "next due" dates, because a date printed on a card is often a vial expiry — add those yourself. Three scans are free; Premium removes the limit.
How do I set up a medication course?
Add a medication with its name, dose and frequency (up to four times a day, with editable dose times), a start date, and either an ongoing course or a fixed end date. Doses are then reminded at those times, and finished courses drop off the pet screen on their own.
How do we avoid double-dosing?
Tick each dose off as it is given. The log is stamped with who gave it and when, and everyone in the household with medication access sees it — including a live notification when someone else logs a dose. You can mark a dose given straight from the reminder.
How do I make a summary for the vet?
On the pet screen choose the vet health summary. CorePaw builds a printable PDF — identity, microchip, latest weight and body condition score, allergies, health history, current medications and the symptom diary with photos — then opens the share sheet to email, print or save it. It is built on your device, works offline, and is free for everyone.
I am not getting reminders.
Check notification permission for CorePaw in your phone settings, then reopen the app so reminders rebuild. Also check the record actually has a next-due date, and that the pet is not archived or marked as passed away — memorial mode deliberately silences every reminder for that pet.
Sharing & sync
How do I add my partner or a dog walker to the household?
From Explore → Household, send an invite code. You choose the role, label and permissions before you send, so the code carries them and the person lands with exactly the right access. Family sharing is part of Premium.
How do I limit what someone can change?
Roles decide it. A Viewer sees everything and changes nothing; a Member can edit only the areas you tick, with quick presets for a full carer, a helper or view-only; a Co-owner has full access. In a household with more than one pet you can also choose which pets a member sees at all. Every rule is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the app.
My phone and my partner's phone are showing different things.
Sync needs both of you signed in to the same household with Premium, and it runs when the app has a connection. Open the app on both phones with a connection and give it a moment. If a pet is missing entirely for one person, check whether that member has been scoped to only some of the pets.
A co-parent can see a photo's details but not the photo.
That is the free tier working as intended: files stay on the device that added them, and only their details sync. Premium (CorePaw Cloud) uploads photos, documents and the microchip certificate to private cloud storage so the whole household can open them.
How do I hand the household over to someone else?
From Explore → Members, an owner can promote a Co-owner or transfer ownership entirely and step down to a fully-capable member. A household always keeps at least one owner.
Account & billing
How do I reset my password?
Use the "forgot password" link on the sign-in screen. A reset link is emailed to the address you signed up with — check spam if it does not arrive within a few minutes.
How do I manage or cancel Premium?
Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play, so manage and cancel them there: on iOS in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions. Cancelling leaves you on the free tier at the end of the paid period.
What happens to my pets if Premium ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your records stay on your device, and memorial pets and the memory book stay free for ever. You go back to the free tier's one-pet, one-device limits for adding new things.
How do I delete my account?
From Explore → Account you can sign out or permanently delete your account and its data. If you own a shared household, CorePaw asks you to hand it over first so nobody else loses their pets' records. You can also request deletion from our delete-account page without the app installed.
How do I report a bug?
From inside the app — Explore has a feedback option that sends the report with the details we need to reproduce it. You can also use the form on this page; tell us your phone model and the app version, and what you expected to happen.
Watch how it works
Walkthroughs are being recorded now. In the meantime the help topics above cover the same ground, and we'll happily talk you through anything.
Report a bug from the app
Explore → feedback sends the report with the details we need to reproduce it. It's the fastest route for anything that looks broken.

Not veterinary advice
CorePaw keeps the record; your vet makes the decisions. We can help you use the app, but we can't advise on your pet's treatment.
